GENERAL
The Youth Academy for Music and Art Germany, in cooperation with the renowned Kalaidos University of Music in Switzerland, offers an attractive master's degree program in performance/pedagogy (classical, jazz/pop) for all instruments, voice and composition.
During the master's program, which runs over four semesters, the required examinations and lectures take place in Hanover.
To enter the program, a Bachelor of Music degree and successful completion of the entrance examination are required.
The following competencies are required at the start of study:
Expertise:
- High level of instrumental/vocal technical skills that make successful completion of the program realistic in the time allotted.
- Ability for convincing independent artistic expression
- Foundation of an independent artistic profile
- Basic repertoire (main subject) from the most important style areas
- Experience with public performance situations
- Practical music skills for sight-reading or sight-singing.
- Experience in ensemble playing in different instrumentations and styles
- Trained listening skills and ability to listen analytically
- Recognize different compositional techniques, recognize the characteristic features and techniques of different styles.
- Basic knowledge of music history, acoustics and instrumentology, knowledge of styles and their respective performance practice in early and contemporary music.
- Ability to analyze, contextualize, and reflect on the components of music general education.
Methodological competence:
- Own learning and practice strategies, memorization and rehearsal techniques.
- Ability to do own reflective and analytical work in the application of stylistic, music-theoretical and -historical knowledge and extensive experience in these areas.
- Inclusion of aesthetic, art, literary and socio-political knowledge in own artistic work; experience in interdisciplinary thinking
- Experience with body awareness, loosening and relaxation techniques and their application in the major.
- Knowledge and experience in the use of knowledge management and research techniques (including library research and use of information technologies).
- Application of basic knowledge of scientific work and its fruitfulness for own work
Social Skills:

Classes and exams are held in German.
